From concept to treatment

In order to promote the transfer of new scientific discoveries into clinical practice ETH Zurich began setting up the digital Trial Intervention Platform (dTIP) in January 2021, and launched it with a steering committee kick-off in early February. In expanding its clinical infrastructure and standardised procedures through the platform, ETH is pushing forward medical research at the university. ETH researchers, ETH spin-offs and other partners will also be able to call on more support in the planning, submission and implementation of complex clinical studies. Such studies can demonstrate whether new treatment approaches, tested for example in basic research, are also effective and well tolerated in the human body. Read more
external page OST is the university of applied sciences for the six cantons of Eastern Switzerland and the Principality of Liechtenstein. The external page MedTech Lab is the support platform of OST where partners can address clinical challenges with technical and scientific approaches and develop commercially successful solutions within the MedTech sector. Within the ThermoTwin project, OST works on validation tools which simulate the body functions measured by the epyTracker. These tools give external page epyMetrics the certainty that physiologically problematic situations are recognized correctly. Members of external page Prof. Dr. Agathe Koller's and external page Prof. Adrian Weitnauer's groups teamed up such that the necessary mechatronic and metrological expertise are both well represented.
- external page Silvia Rohner: Project manager
With her dual background in movement sciences and mechanical engineering, Silvia is able to translate the clinical needs to engineering requirements. She is experienced with development of medical devices and manages the national thematic network on User-Centred HealthTech. - external page Benjamin Eggimann: Lead engineer
Benjamin is an experienced engineer who focused on medical mechatronic devices and image processing. He leads the technical team to implement the validation tools. - external page Céline Tchernin: Physicist
Céline has a PhD in astrophysics and is highly skilled in data handling and data analysis. She applies her expertise mainly in the control software for the validation tools.
