Barriers to translation
Barriers to the translation of digital health solutions – a comprehensive view on the Swiss healthcare system
Summary

Healthcare systems worldwide are facing substantial challenges: increases in health spending, a global pandemic, health workforce shortages, or chronic disease in an aging population among others. The transformation towards the use of digital health solutions can lead to a necessary systemic change, strengthening the effectiveness and resilience of health systems. However, compared to other sectors, the healthcare sector only slowly adopts to new innovations.
In this cross-discipline research project, we aim to get a better understanding of barriers to the translation or diffusion of digital solutions in healthcare. Building mainly on management and innovation theory, we will take a closer look at the barriers in the Swiss context and recommend solutions to eventually pave the way to a modern and digital healthcare system in Switzerland.
