First Medicine @ETH Day - focus on networking
On 4 September 2024, almost 400 participants gathered for the first Medicine @ETH Day. This event marked a milestone in ETH Zurich's strategic focus on medical and health research. Experts from various disciplines came together to promote collaboration and discuss the future of medical research.

The Medicine @ETH Day took place in the GLC building of ETH Zurich and was hosted by ETH Vice President for Research, Prof Dr Christian Wolfrum. He emphasised ETH Zurich's commitment to making medical and health research a strategic priority for the future.
The day began with inspiring presentations by ETH Board member Prof. Dr Dr h.c. Susan Gasser and Dr Katrin Crameri, MPH, Co-Head of the DigiSanté programme. Both speakers emphasised the central importance of digital transformation in the healthcare sector.
A top-class panel discussion with Prof. Dr iur. Dr med. Kerstin Noëlle Vokinger from the University of Zurich, Prof. Dr med. Alessandro Ceschi from Ente Ospedaliero Cantonale (EOC), Prof. Dr Sabine Werner, Head of the Department of Biology at ETH Zurich, and Prof. Dr Christian Wolfrum shed light on the potential and challenges of the medical research landscape. The discussion was moderated by Prof. Dr Jörg Goldhahn, member of the organising committee.
The event was enriched by presentations from various ETH departments as well as contributions from important partner institutions such as EPFL, the Paul Scherrer Institute and Empa. These contributions highlighted ETH's broad expertise and its leading role in promoting medical research.
Thanks to the active participation of ETH professors, researchers, hospitals, industry partners and external co-operation partners, synergies were identified, partnerships strengthened and ETH's future strategy for medical and health research further developed. This collaboration positions ETH Zurich to make significant contributions to innovation in healthcare and medical research.
